Jasna Mary James, a second-year student at the SD College, Kottayam, Kerala, has been missing since March 22, 2018, when she left for her relative’s house in Erumeli, Kottayam. The next day, on March 23, the Vechoochira police in the district registered a missing case for Jasna. Despite investigations by the police and later the crime branch, Jasna could not be found. When approached externally, Jasna’s phone was not in her possession, complicating the search as location tracing proved unsuccessful. Jasna did not have a history of using social media for public communication, and extensive scientific examinations also failed to yield any leads.

In 2021, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation as directed by the High Court. After numerous investigations, the CBI issued Yellow Notices with the help of Interpole in 191 countries, but Jasna’s whereabouts remain unknown. In 2023, the CBI concluded the case due to the lack of information surrounding Jasna’s disappearance.
